- GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE FACULTY
The Faculty of Economics provides training of more that 700 students in seven majors:
- The Theory of Economics
- Economics (Commerce)
- Economics and Sociology of Labour
- Economics and Management of the Enterprise
- National Economy
- Ecology
- Information Systems
There are 83 staff members of the faculty, including 18 Professors, 50 Candidates of Science, three Distinguished Scientists, and one Distinguished Economist of the Russian Federation who teach students and conduct research. The faculty has trained more than 5000 specialists in different fields of Economics for various industries and businesses. The members of the faculty have published many books in Russia, as well as abroad.
The faculty has 9 departments:

- The Department of the Service Sector Economics
- The Department of Information Technologies in Economy

- The Department of Economics of Health Care Sector
The Department of Economics of the Enterprise is one of the oldest at USUE. Its main objective is to train economists for different industries.
Many graduates of the Department of Labour and Personnel Management occupy top positions in economic and social spheres: members of the Federal Expert Council; Head of Young Entrepreneurs Association; Rector of the Security Market Institute; Deputy Director of the Institute of Chemical Enterprise Personnel Training and others. The Department is one of the founders of the Russian Higher-Education Institutions' Association.
The Department of Regional and Municipal Economics (Urban Studies) is the only department training specialists for the regional and municipal authorities. The department designed a training program for managers at the regional level and set up "Region School" where executives are trained.
The Department of Ecology trains students to solve environmental issues.
The Department of the Service Sector Economics is one of the newest, established in 1993, to provide training for specialists in public utilities sector and the hotel business.
Though the Department of Information Technologies in Economy is one of the "youngest" departments, its graduates have already gained leading positions in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Students of the department acquire economic education along with advanced computer knowledge.
The Department of the Theory of Economics was established in 1967 as the Department of Political Economics. It trains analysts and researchers in the field of the theory of economics.
The Department of Law and Economics gives to its students both legal and economic knowledge.
The Department of the Health Care Sector Economics was established in 1997 and it trains managers for health care and medical institutions.
