  3. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE FACULTY
The Faculty of Finance is one of the largest in the University. It provides training of more than 1000 students in two majors:
    • Accounting and Auditing
    • Finance and Credit
Among its 64 members are 5 professors, 35 members with academic degrees, and two Distinguished Economists of the Russian Federation. Annually about 300 professionals in finance, credit, accounting and auditing enter the economy.

The Faculty conducts research in the following fields:

    • SME Development
    • Oblast Budget
    • Local Markets and their Functioning
    • Auditing in the Market Economy
    • Auditing and Accounting in Industry and Agriculture
The Department of Finance Money Circulation and Credit is the basic one in the region to train qualified personnel for the financial sector, and meets more than 90% of the demand for such professionals. Among the faculty graduates are the Chief of the Headquarters of the Central Bank of Russia in Ekaterinburg, Head of the Oblast Tax Agency and presidents of major commercial banks. The department pioneered multilevel training. Many teachers studied in the USA, Germany, Austria and Italy. The Department has set up a training facility to meet new market demands including contracts with the Central Bank, the Oblast Tax Inspection, and the Treasury. The Department has been assigned by the Institute for Economic Development and the World Bank as the leading institution in the Urals for a joint trainers' training program in Finance and Bank Management.

The Department of Accounting and Auditing in Industry implements new techniques and methods of training to insure a high level of professional skills for accountants and auditors. The school "Young accountant" helps to improve the entry level knowledge of students seeking admission to the Department. The Department actively cooperates with universities and commercial schools in the USA, France and Israel.

The Department of Accounting and Auditing in Agriculture provides training for accountants in the agricultural sector. Training is connected with practical activity by "Audit", the company set up by the Department and the Oblast Tax Inspection to train accountants for the district tax inspection offices.

The Department of Securities, Corporate Finance, and Investments was established in 1998. It provides training in two specialities: Securities, and Corporate Finance and Investments. The graduates can pursue their career as top and middle financial managers in institutions acting on the stock market, state-owned (Department of Finance, Treasury Department, the Central Bank) as well as private (commercial banks, investment companies, pension funds and mutual funds).
